Monday 12th March is Commonwealth Day. There are 54 independent countries which form The Commonwealth. Commonwealth Day is celebrated every year on the 2nd Monday in March and falls this year on Monday 12th March. The Commonwealth is a voluntary organisation consisting of 54 independent Countries who were nearly all under British Rule . These countries include among many Antigua & Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Cameroon, Canada Cyprus, Fiji, Grenada and New Zealand . The Commonwealth publicizes the perception of international issues and aims to assist the progression of society. The Queen is the head of The Commonwealth and is always present at Westminster Abbey for a service on this day. She delivers a speech involving her personal views and this is seen by all parts of The Commonwealth. The Queen also attends a reception put on by The Commonwealth Secretary General.
