It is celebrated with Street Parties, Parades and Fireworks where the French Flag is flying and homes are Decorated with French Decorations. Bastille Day is celebrated on 14th July and is the French National Holiday and a National Day of Pride. It commemorates the Storming of The Bastille, which was a prison, in 1789 and the start of The French Revolution. This was the beginning of a new Government where Kings and Queens no longer ruled. The Eiffel Tower and The French National Flag are important symbols of Bastille Day and stand for Liberty for French Citizens. In France there is a day of festivities of a large magnitude. There is a Military Parade in Paris, communal meals including street parties, dances and fireworks. During these Parties wine is flowing and Good Food is served. Bastille Day is not only celebrated in France but all over the world.
