World Book Day is on 2nd March and the perfect day to encourage a love of reading and books. This is always a fun day for children as schools, libraries and bookshops usually get involved to promote this. Children get to dress up as their favourite book character and we have loads of Fancy Dress Costumes for both boys and girls for you to choose from as well as Dressing Up Accessories. This is also a great idea for a Themed Book Party. We would love to know what your children are dressing up as this year.
World Book Day is on 2nd March and is a fantastic way to engage children into the world of books and reading. There are loads of events taking place in schools, nurseries, libraries and bookshops where children get dressed up in their favourite characters from books. Book related decorations for example Pirates indicating Treasure Island or Peter Pan can be put up to make the day look fun. Authors often visit schools and £1.00 book tokens are given out to encourage children to buy a new book to enjoy. This day also gets children thinking about the books they love when choosing their favourite Fancy Dress Costume. If your child is celebrating a birthday at this time of year it also a great idea to have a Book Themed Party.
There is so much choice of Fancy Dress Costumes when it comes to deciding which much loved character to become. There are many traditional options for both boys and girls such as Candy Creator adding a touch of Roald Dahl, Fireman Sam, Robin Hood and Prince Charming. The Horrible Histories are always a popular choice and our range for boys includes a Peasant Boy, Guy Fawkes, WW1 Costume and a Viking Boy among many others. Moshi Monsters such as Bingo zip Top, Katsuma and Scamp Zip Top are also popular. Our Fancy Dress is also exciting for girls and adds to the delights of the day. Choose from a classic Princess Costume which includes a Fairy Princess, a Princess Costume and a Royal Princess Costume as well as Snow White. An Air warden, Boudica, Elizabeth I and a Georgian Girl from Our Horrible Histories range is also a food choice for girls as is Poppet from Moshi Monsters.
If your children prefer to wear accessories rather than full costumes then a Dr. Seuss Cat in the Hat is perfect and a Pirate Hat or Bandana with an Eye Patch and Hook or a Mask is ideal.
