To celebrate the 70th Anniversary this year there is going to be three days of remembrance; this will be Friday 8th May, Saturday 9th May and Sunday 10th May. This commemoration will include a ceremony at the Cenotaph, a national service at Westminster Abbey and a Parade as well as 1940’s themed concert at Horse Guards Parade with lots of stars and celebrities. Street Parties are also taking place across the country. To be part of these celebrations fly your Union Jack Flags and wave Hand Held Flags at a Parade or Street Party and show your support by putting up Union Jack Bunting. Union Jack Decorations really add to your themed party, Union Jack Dangling Cutouts and Lantern Garlands are ideal for this and Union Jack Centrepieces look fantastic on Street Party tables. At the same time a Union Jack Theme Pack provides all you need for a great party. Serving traditional British food is customary at a street party so use either Union Jack Tablewear or co-ordinate red, white and blue to serve cucumber sandwiches and Victoria Sponge Cake. Balloons blown up in bunches of red, white and blue as well as Union Jack Foil Balloons completes the look. Hats are always popular for these events and gets everyone into the spirit of the occasion, Union Jack Bowlers, Headboppers and Plastic Warden Helmets are always a favourite and can be worn to whichever VE Day Party you are attending.
Are you involved in organising a Street Party for VE Day or are you attending one? We would love to hear how your plans are going and how you will be spending this historical weekend.
