Spain National Day

Spain’s National Day is on 12^th October and commemorates when Christopher Columbus set foot in the Americas in 1492. This is also a day to recognise the Armed Forces and there is a Military Parade in Madrid which is watched over by the Spanish King. If the 12^th October falls on a Sunday then the date changes to midweek. This day sees offices and businesses closing although many bakers and food stores remain open. The day is usually spent with family and close friends for get-togethers.

To celebrate Spain's National Day you could have a Spanish Themed Party and put up the Spanish Flag and even use Hand Held Flags as decorations. You can enjoy a meal out in a Spanish Restaurant or have friends over for a typical Spanish dinner such as Gazpacho or Paella (my favourite) topped off with a lovely glass of Sangria. Having a Spanish Party Accessory, for example, a traditional Fiesta Fan helps to create the Spanish atmosphere and a Spanish Flag Mask is always good fun.
